Security operatives have reportedly attempted to detain former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The allegation was made by his Media Adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, in a post on his verified X account.
According to Adekeye, the incident occurred on Thursday as the former governor arrived in Abuja from Cairo, Egypt.
He claimed that security personnel approached El-Rufai and requested that he accompany them.
However, the former governor reportedly declined, insisting that he would only respond to a formal invitation.
Adekeye further alleged that during the encounter, security operatives confiscated El-Rufai’s passport from one of his aides.
As at the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by any security agency regarding the incident.
