The Seme Border Command of the Nigerian Customs Service has recorded impressive revenue performance in the early weeks of 2026, generating over two billion naira within the month of January.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, disclosed this while receiving members of the Caretaker Committee of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria, MARAN, during a courtesy visit to the Command in Lagos.
Comptroller Adenuga recalled that the Command generated fifteen point six billion naira in 2025, with three point six billion naira collected in December alone, noting that officers and men of the Command are motivated to surpass last year’s revenue figures.
He attributed the performance to the continuous support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Wale Adeniyi, and his management team, assuring that the Command will sustain the momentum throughout 2026.
The Customs Area Controller also emphasized that the Command will not relent in its anti-smuggling operations, emphasizing that officers recently raided Badagry Market and impounded over two hundred bags of smuggled rice.
He added that the operation would be sustained until Badagry Roundabout, described as a notorious point for smuggled rice, is completely cleared, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to revenue generation and the fight against smuggling.
