The Southern Governors’ Forum, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, has expressed deep condolences to the Government and people of Kwara State following the deadly terrorist attacks in Woro and Nuku villages, which claimed at least 162 lives.
In a statement, Governor Abiodun described the attacks as a horrific and senseless act, in which innocent citizens were murdered while carrying out their lawful activities.
Abiodun condemned the alleged targeting of residents who refused to adopt Sharia law, and noted that homes, shops, and properties were burned, while many others were abducted.
The attackers, believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram, left a trail of destruction and terror.
The governor reiterated that Nigeria is a secular state that upholds religious freedom, and emphasized the urgent need for law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators.
He called for their prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, insisting that Nigerians must be able to live without the constant fear of violence.
On behalf of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Abiodun offered condolences to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq and the people of Kwara, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure that justice is served and prevent further attacks.
