The Southern and Middle Belt Leadership Forum, SMBLF, has condemned the abduction of over 100 worshippers in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a joint statement signed by leaders of major socio-political groups, the forum called on the Federal Government to deploy all necessary military and intelligence resources for the immediate rescue of the victims.
The forum also demanded sanctions for officials who denied or downplayed the attack, describing such actions as undermining rescue efforts and giving kidnappers time to relocate captives.
SMBLF further urged the establishment of state police, the creation of community-based vigilante groups in Southern Kaduna, and the formation of a joint regional security outfit across Middle Belt states to strengthen intelligence sharing and rapid response to attacks.
Reacting, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani assured that security agencies are working to ensure the safe and speedy return of the abducted worshippers.
The forum’s call highlights growing concerns over insecurity in the Middle Belt and the urgent need for coordinated security measures.
