Some Stakeholders in the nation’s maritime industry have commended the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs, Bashir Wale Adeniyi for being able to convince the federal government to suspend the implementation of the four percent free – on – board value on imports coming into the country.
Speaking at an Award ceremony organised by Maritime Journalists in honour of the Customs High Command in Lagos, the former National President of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents, Chief Olayiwola Shitu, noted that, the suspension order, has gone a long way in solving the huge cost that Importers and their Agents, would have spent on those imports.
Eulogizing the invaluable contributions of Comptroller Wale Adeniyi, delivering the Customs mandate, Chief Shitu remembered how instrumental the Customs Boss was towards helping him to succeed in tenure as the former National President of the Association.
In his contribution, the Chairman, Customs Consultative Council, Alhaji Hakeem Olarenwaju also commended the Comptroller General of Customs for the significant role in changing the narratives of the Service since his assumption of Office.
Another Maritime Expert and the President, Africa Association of of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria, Chief Frank Ogunojemite said, Comptroller Adeniyi was a great leader whose leadership qualities started while they were together in their University days.
They congratulated the Comptroller Adeniyi for his ability to deliver on his mandate while advocating more political will and support from the Government to enable him to succeed in his administration.
