Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, is to return to Nigeria today, January 26, 2026, following interventions by prominent traditional rulers who persuaded President Bola Tinubu to remove his name from the list of wanted persons.
Igboho, who resides in Benin Republic, is expected to visit the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, upon arrival.
His spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that all arrangements for his return have been concluded.
Security has been heightened around Igboho’s Soka, Ibadan residence, where supporters, including members of Yoruba socio-cultural groups such as the Oodua Peoples’ Congress, Agbekoya Vigilante Group, and Ifelodun Security Network, have gathered to welcome him.
Koiki noted that Igboho is no longer being sought by Nigerian authorities, attributing the development to sustained royal interventions, political goodwill, and advocacy by Yoruba leaders.
His return marks another high-profile homecoming, following his visit to Nigeria in 2024 for his late mother’s burial.
