President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to end terrorism and banditry across the country, declaring that insecurity remains a top priority of the Federal Government.
The President made the pledge on Monday while addressing governors and key stakeholders at the opening of the Second National Economic Council, NEC, Conference at the State House, Abuja.

Describing terrorism and banditry as alien to Nigeria’s values and culture, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration would confront the threat with renewed determination and resilience.
He acknowledged the impact of insecurity on citizens and the nation’s economy, stressing that peace and stability remain critical to sustainable development and food security.
As part of efforts to strengthen both security and agricultural productivity, the President announced plans to roll out seven agricultural mechanization zones nationwide.
The initiative is aimed at boosting food production, creating jobs and reducing vulnerabilities that fuel unrest.
President Tinubu also commended the governors of Borno, Katsina and Kaduna States for their continued efforts in tackling security challenges in their respective states.
The President spoke against the backdrop of the launch of the Renewed Hope National Development Plan, 2026 to 2030, a five-year blueprint focused on economic diversification, infrastructure development, subnational competitiveness and climate resilience.
He noted that recent fiscal and monetary reforms have stabilized the economy and improved federal allocations to states and local governments, enhancing their capacity to meet obligations and fund development projects.

President Tinubu emphasized that the success of the national development plan will depend largely on effective implementation at state and local government levels.
He reaffirmed that the National Economic Council, chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, remains central to coordinating economic policies and driving inclusive growth across the federation.
