The Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, has condemned the ongoing killings and destruction of property in Benue State, calling for an immediate end to the violence.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and ICT, Freddie Adamgbe, the paramount ruler expressed outrage over the attacks on communities in Kwande Local Government Area, including Moon, Anyiase, Abande, and Anwase, which have claimed innocent lives and caused massive destruction.
Referring to the February 3rd attack on Abande Market by suspected herdsmen, which left 17 people dead, the Tor Tiv described the killings as an assault on the very essence of Tiv communal life.
He called on the Tiv people to stand united in their grief and outrage, vowing not to be silenced by fear.
He demanded justice for the victims and insisted that the bloodshed must end.
While urging his people not to resort to retaliation, which could worsen their situation, the Tor Tiv appealed to both state and federal governments to deploy both air and ground security forces to confront the violence and protect affected communities.
He emphasized the importance of divine intervention and called for swift action to restore peace and security to the region.
