Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have uncovered and dismantled a makeshift hospital used by terrorists to treat injured fighters, while also destroying other support systems across the region.
The military operation, conducted between January 21 and 22, 2026, followed credible intelligence and forms part of ongoing efforts to restore security in the North West.
Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain David Adewusi, said troops from 1 Brigade, working with the Joint Task Force Mobile Strike Team, located the facility in Bingi Forest, where it was discovered and destroyed.
Captain Adewusi explained that the action dealt a major blow to the terrorists’ logistics and support network, further weakening their operational capacity in the area.
He added that coordinated offensives were also carried out across the Joint Operations Area, with troops maintaining sustained pressure on terrorist elements.
In a related encounter at Gundumi Village in Isa Local Government Area, troops of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, supported by DSS assets, engaged terrorists, neutralising one suspect while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles were recovered.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to addressing insecurity and displacement while receiving the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Dr Tijani Aliyu Ahmed, in Abuja.
The Army Chief stressed that improved security is critical to the safe return and reintegration of displaced persons, assuring that the Nigerian Army will continue to support humanitarian and development efforts across affected communities.
