Joint security forces under Operation UDO KA have overrun a suspected hideout of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Mother Valley, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to a military source, the coordinated operation began early on February 26, involving personnel of the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Troops reportedly advanced on foot for several hours through difficult terrain before engaging suspected fighters.
The source said the operatives encountered resistance, including gunfire and improvised explosive devices, but eventually overpowered the group and secured the area.
One suspect was said to have been neutralised, while others reportedly fled with injuries.
Security operatives recovered firearms, gas cylinders and other items from the location.
They also destroyed structures described as support facilities within the camp, including power-generating equipment.
Two suspects were reportedly arrested during the operation — one allegedly attempting to plant an explosive device and another accused of monitoring troop movements.
They are said to be in military custody for further investigation.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle armed groups and restore stability in the South-East region.
