Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have intensified security operations in Plateau State, killing five suspected kidnappers and rescuing an abducted woman during a raid in Riyom Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out at a criminal hideout in Angwan Boka, Sopp District, followed credible intelligence obtained from two earlier suspects linked to a kidnapping syndicate in the area.
Acting on the information, troops stormed the location and secured the release of the victim, identified as Hauwa Suleiman.
Spokesperson of the Joint Military Task Force, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, confirmed the development, stating that the troops remain committed to restoring peace and ensuring residents can safely return to their farms and businesses.
Items reportedly recovered during the operation include mobile phones, cash and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
Meanwhile, in a related development, troops of Operation Hadin Kai recently neutralised 16 insurgents and rescued 11 hostages during a counter-offensive in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, underscoring ongoing military efforts to curb insecurity in parts of the country.
