Warri Wolves Football Club has emerged the winner of this year’s Delta FA Cup .
In the final match played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Warri Wolves defeated Sapele Lions two one to clntch the coveted cup and a prize of one million naira.
The match which drew hundreds of football fans and supporters of both clubs from within and outside the state, ended one goal apiece in the first half with both sides have a good possession of the ball.
Warri Wolves came out in more tactical and thrilling performance at the resumption of play in the second half, an action which paid off, with a second goal.
Captain of Warri Wolves FC, Innocent Orugbe attributed the victory to team hard work and the grace of God.
The match was preceded by the women’s category of the Delta State Football Association Cup with Delta Queens FC of Asaba thrashing Delta Babes FC of Warri two zero to win the competition and a cheque of three hundred thousand naira.
Speaking with sports journalists, Chairman of Delta State Football Association, Godwin Adode who commended the participating clubs and the sponsors, for displaying good sportsmanship, said he was impressed with the successes recorded in the competitions.
He thanked the Delta State Government for providing the enabling environment for development of sports in the state.
Highlight of the competitions included presentation of trophies to the winners and medals to players and officials.
