The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Richard Pheelangwah has been conferred an Award of Excellence, Leadership and Service by the Abuja District (CBD), Rotary Club in recognition of his exceptional leadership and dedication to public service has been honored
This is contained in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director, Information & Public Relations, Mrs Funmi Imuetinyan, in Abuja.
The statement commends the Club’s longstanding commitment to humanitarian services and community development.
According to the statement, Pheelangwah stresses that Rotary’s Community Development Initiatives have positively impacted millions of lives, particularly in rural communities.

It notes that Pheelangwah pledges his continued support in advancing the Club’s mission.
“I deeply appreciate this honour and recognition. Rotary International has shown consistent dedication to humanitarian causes, and I am encouraged to do even more in supporting your initiatives” Pheelangwah states.
According to the statement, in her address, the President of the Rotary Club, CBD Abuja, Rotarian Kate Adamu, reiterates Rotary’s commitment to vocational services and ethical leadership noting that the recognition was not merely ceremonial, but an affirmation of Rotary’s core values, as outlined in the Four-Way Test of the Club.

“We honour individuals who exemplify integrity, excellence, and service in their various professions. Your name came up at our board meeting and was unanimously approved for this award. Though the official ceremony was slated for last year, we believe it is never too late to recognize a deserving individual of your caliber,” she states.
It states that at the event, Rotarian Evelyn Onyilo, a former Assistant Governor of the Rotary Club, highlighted the Club’s numerous achievements and reaffirmed its commitment to transforming lives—particularly in underserved communities.
She emphasized the Club’s openness to welcoming new members, including the Permanent Secretary and others who share Rotary’s ideals.
The highlight of the event was the formal presentation of the Award of Excellence, Leadership and Service, along with the Rotary Banner, to the Permanent Secretary in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public service and his unwavering support for community development initiatives.
