The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has commissioned 12 new ambulances to strengthen emergency healthcare services and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming all sectors of the FCT.
The handover, which took place in Abuja, is part of broader efforts to improve emergency response and healthcare delivery across the territory.
Wike said 14 health centres are currently being rehabilitated and furnished to enhance service provision.
Addressing concerns over road infrastructure, the Minister explained that functional roads are essential for effective emergency services, noting that ambulances cannot perform optimally without stable and accessible roads.

On manpower, Wike revealed that the administration is working to employ additional health personnel to boost service delivery, while outstanding allowances for healthcare workers, including hazard allowances and residency training funds, have been fully cleared.
The Mandate Secretary for Health and Environmental Secretariat, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe, described the ambulance commissioning as a milestone, reflecting people-centred governance, emergency preparedness, and improved health outcomes for FCT residents.
The initiative underscores the administration’s focus on strengthening the health system as part of its broader development agenda across the territory.
