The Zamfara State Government has begun enrolling additional underage children, pregnant and nursing women, elderly persons, and persons living with disabilities into its free healthcare services scheme.
Officials of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZSCHMA) announced the exercise during sensitisation visits to Bukuyyum and Gummi Emirate Councils, noting that enrolment aims to improve access to quality healthcare across the state.
Each ward will receive 400 enrolment forms, and possession of a National Identification Number (NIN) is required. Beneficiaries include 150 pregnant women, 150 women aged 14–49, 50 children under five, 25 elderly persons, and 25 persons with disabilities per ward.
Traditional leaders in the emirates commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, and encouraged residents to support the state government’s healthcare and human capital development programmes.
