The First Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, says empowering young people with practical skills and opportunities is vital to reducing unemployment and social vices in the state.
She stated this in Gusau during the empowerment of 500 youths from across Zamfara, an initiative organized by Prince Onyeka Okeke, Founder of the Prince Okeke Foundation, in support of the state government’s development agenda.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation, Hajiya Hadiza Mai, the First Lady described the programme as timely and in line with the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, economic self-reliance, and inclusive development.

Hajiya Lawal commended Prince Okeke for complementing government efforts and urged other individuals and organizations to invest in initiatives that promote sustainable livelihoods for youths.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Zamfara State Government, under Governor Dauda Lawal, to fostering partnerships that enhance human capital development and improve citizens’ welfare, while urging beneficiaries to make productive use of the support received.

Items distributed included foodstuffs for an orphanage, grinding machines, POS machines with fifty thousand naira start-up capital, as well as equipment for tea vending, masa production, wara processing, and shoe-shining businesses.
