The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has approved the employment of two thousand teachers across State to improve and revitalize the sector.
Governor Lawal made this known during the State Executive Council meeting at the government house council chamber in Gusau.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris says the recruitment is in fulfilment of his campaign promise.
According to the statement, the planned recruitment is part of the government’s activities in 2025 towards the education sector.

The statement explains that the teachers are to be employed in phases to ensure that the right people are employed inorder to address critical areas of need in schools without any wrongdoing.
“The recruitment is part of the AGILE Program and aims to completely reverse the rot in the education sector and improve the quality of teaching and students in our schools throughout the state”
“We are starting with employing 500 teachers in the first quarter of this year. In the first instance, emphasis should be placed on teachers in critical subjects like English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, ICT, and Entrepreneurship studies.”
The statement notes that, education, being the second priority of his administration, has received significant attention and is already yielding desired results.
According to the statement, Dr. Lawal points out that in his commitment to revamp education in Zamfara state, on November 14, 2023, he has declared a state of emergency in the education sector of the State.
According to him, the emergency response had led to the construction and renovation of more than 400 schools across the fourteen local government areas of the State.
“Provision of two-seater desks for pupils and students, totaling over twelve thousand, across schools in the fourteen local government areas and equipping the constructed and renovated over four hundred schools with over seven hundred tables and one thousand chairs for teachers across the fourteen local government areas”
