Arewa Youth for Peaceful Coexistence has condemned recent comments by activist Deji Adeyanju targeting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the National coordinator Haruna Bature and FCT coordinator of the group, Ogah Mark in Abuja.
According to the statement the group defends Wike’s actions, specifically his urban renewal projects and land reclamation efforts in Abuja, saying they are guided by the Abuja master plan, initially developed under former FCT Minister Nasir El-Rufai and approved by then-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
It describs Adeyanju’s remarks as baseless and unprovoked, criticizing the use of personal insults and unsubstantiated allegations against the Minister.
The statement emphasizes that the relocation of individuals occupying illegal lands reflects Wike’s commitment to lawful governance and urban order.
It also expresses concern over Adeyanju’s statements, which they believe disrespect authority and cultural values of respect for elders calling on Deji Adeyanju to either substantiate his claims or cease what they describe as inflammatory statements.
The statement urges stakeholders to support Wike’s development efforts, advocating for constructive dialogue over personal attacks in public discourse.
