The Kano state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Umar Doguwa says challenges of adequate water supply will soon be a thing of the past as government has procured modern water pumping machines.
Alhaji Doguwa who stated this while briefing newsmen in Kano stressed that the governor had approved the Procurement of modern water pumping machines to ensure that enough portable drinking water was supplied to the general populace of the state.
The Commissioner who said the machines have already arrived the Country, for installation noted that proactive measures have been implored to revived the existing water reservoirs which have been vandalized during the last administration.
“You will be surprised how those historical reservoirs were been neglected and vandalized, we will revived them and ensure that they’re functioning effectively with a view to addressing the challenges” he added.
The Commissioner maintained that over one point three billion Naira is being spent monthly on procuring water treatment chemicals and other logistics for effective supply of Portable drinking water to the teeming populace of the state.
He decried the evil acts of some people who tapped the water that was supplied to the people and reserved it in their tanks which they later sold to people, saying anyone found in such act will face the full wrath of the law.
He adviced irrigation farmers who also tapped water meant for public consumption to desist from such act with a view to adequate supply of Portable drinking water.
