National Electricity Employees of Nigeria Threatens to Blocked the 11kva of 3 states and Abuja if it’s demands were not met.
Members of the National Electricity Employees of Nigeria have threatened to blocked the 11kva of three states under its catchment areas and Abuja tomorrow if the meeting between it and management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC over its welfare package fail to produce any tangible results.
The three affected states apart from the Federal Capital Territory Abuja Fct, were Kogi, Nasarawa and Niger.
National Secretary of the
Electricity Employees of Nigeria, Niger state chapter, Alh, Muazu Ibrahim who stated this explained that the decision embark on the peaceful protest followed the expiration of seven days ultimatum given to the AEDC by the union.
This he said had forced them to embark on protest by picketing all the offices of the affected states including the AEDC headquarters at Wuse Zone 4 Abuja to press home their demands.
According to him some of their demands includes, lack of payment of their sixteen month pension arrears, stagnation for eleven years, that is the absence of career progression, lack of designated hospital for its members to access medical services and the casualisation of members for eleven years also by the management of AEDC among others.
Alhaji Ibrahim further said if the situation persist, they would be left with no other option than to also blocked the 33kva line and suspend the online recharging of power by it’s customers.
He however added that members of National Electricity Employees of Nigeria are peace loving Nigerians, as such will follow and exhaust all the necessary acceptable procedures before embarking on its next line iof action, in the interest of the union and Nigeria as a whole.
