Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appealed to the security agencies operative in the state to remain proactive and uphold the highest standard of professionalism while discharging their constitutional duty in the state
He made the plea during this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Gusau, the Zamfara state Capital.

Dr Lawal explained that, it is imperative for the security operatives to adhere both local and International laws governing such operations, by treating all law abiding citizens with respect and compassion.
He noted that, Nigerians must not forget the importance of supporting the families of fallen heroes and veterans who fought gallantly for the Peace in the county.
According to him, the resilient and dedication of the fallen heroes must serve as a reminder of the nation collective responsibility to honour their sacrifices and demonstrate their gratitude to them for their unwavering commitment to the nation.
“Today, we honor our heroes, those who gave their lives and those who continue to serve to keep us safe, We remain committed to upholding your legacy” he added.
“This occasion further remind us of the need to carefully guard the unity of the country which was won at very cost”
Dr Dauda Lawal also maintained that, Armed Force Remembrance Day celebration served as a reminder for people to refrain from unguided behaviors, decisive actions and comments that could jeopardize the unity and progress of Nigeria.
“As you are aware, our administration has inherited monumental security challenges which persisted for over 15 years. This threat has drastically infected Zamfara state and our collective lives, affecting meaningful development, commerce, industry, inflow of investment, and sectoral declined in health, Agriculture and Education among others”
“Furthermore, this challenges have instill fair among the people of the state by restricting their freedom of movement and enroting their sense of community”
He called on the people to cooperate with security agencies in the battle to cleanup the society, stressing that, citizens must desist from collaboration in any away with anti social elements that deny the state communities the needed peace.
Dr Dauda Lawal pointed out that, despite limited resources at the state government disposal, considerable progress is been made in addressing the state internal security concerns through various measures.
The Governor emphasized that, his administration effort had resulted in the restoration of normalcy in several of the most severely affected areas, saying that, his government has taken concrete steps to ensure the welfare of the families of brave officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to him, his government remain committed to strengthen strategic alliance with neighbouring states, security agencies and other stakeholders to tackle the security challenges affecting the state.
He commended the invaluable contribution of the Nigerian Armed forces and other security agencies for their dedication for the development of Zamfara state
The celebration was attended by the state Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mumini, SSG, representative of the state speaker of the house of Assembly, Commissioners, Chief Judge of Zamfara, Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Senior Military and Other Paramilitary officers including Emirs Among others.
Highlight of the event including laying of wreath by the Governor and other Senior Security Personnel and other top government officials, and other activities line up for the occasion.
