The Nigerian Army says is working on modalities aimed at combating banditry and other insurgencies through the application of lessons learned.
The Chief Army Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede stated this at a seminar aimed at discussing new strategies towards crushing the incessant banditry and other insurgents activities in the North West, in Sokoto.
The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, Major General Olusegun Samson Abai, said the sensitization visit was geared towards Enhancing Operational Effectiveness through the Application of Nigerian Army Lessons Learned Process/Feedback
Mechanism.
He stressed that the seminar was one of the many measures taken to mitigate the challenges faced by the troops while operating in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous security environmen.
The Chief of Army staff Lieutenant General Oluyede, maintained that Nigerian Army has continued to review its tactics, techniques and procedures in order to come up with both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to defeat these challenge.
He noted that commanders at all levels must continue to come up with innovative ideas to upscale their approaches towards improving man – management and battle readiness.
The COAS explained that the move was inline with his Command Philosophy in a bid to Consolidating the Transformation of The Nigerian Army towards bequeathing a Well-Motivated and Combat ready force that can effectively discharge Its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.
In a welcome address by the Chief of Transformation and Innovation, represented by the Deputy Director Training and Examination Analysis, Army Headquarters Brigadier General Olayinka encouraged the participants to ensure the knowledge learned from the sensitisation seminar is well utilised in order to entrench a better positioned Nigerian Army.
