The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp Zamfara State Command has deployed five hundred and fifty personnel to maintain peace and order across the 14 Local Government Areas of the State and worship centres as part of effort to achieve peaceful Christmas Celebration.
The Commandant of the Corp, Mr Sani Mustapha announced this while parading a car suspects at the Command Headquarters in Gusau.
Mr Mustapha explained that, the personnel would be in a strategic locations to ensure hitch free celebration.
He also disclosed that, the Corps had discovered a stolen car Mercedes C300, a phone Samsung Galaxy and hard currency amounting to seven thousand dollars suspected to be counterfeit from one Mohammed Dauda Ismail an indigene of Kano State.
Mr Sani Mustapha explained that, one Mr. Alkasim Muhammad Kabir a 33 old, an origin of Kano State on the 12th December 2024 reported a missing Mercedes-Benz C300 with registration no. DAL68HK Kano and two phones Samsung Galaxy & IPhone 12 suspected to be stolen.
According to him, Prior to the arrest of the suspects, tracking revealed a number of locations the culprit transit through, before being displaced of the tracker and assumed lost.
He maintained that, the suspects followed Dayi- Malumfashi- Futua enroute to Zamfara state from Kano state.
“Subject to the advert on social media and intelligent reports to the command, the command swiftly identified the situation and apprehended the suspect in Gusau, Sunday 15th December, 2024 at around 1130hrs along sokoto by-pass road in a restaurant close to Masjid Umar Bin Khattab (Masallacin Kanoma).
Mr Sani Mustapha pointed out that, Muhammad Dauda the suspect had confessed to be in possession of the items through deceit, saying that, he left the owners residence to refil gas at a gas plant in Kano but absconded.
He further disclosed that, tracking had confirmed the Iphone 12 is in Lokoja, Kogi state and contacts are in place to retrieve it as the buyer has agreed to return it to the rightful owner.
The Commandant emphasized that,
Investigations are still ongoing, the suspect would be arraigned before a court of law upon completion.
He however promised to keep the press and the general public abreast for further developments in due course.
In a interview with newsmen, the Suspect, Mohammed Dauda said he
attempted to sell the car and phones in his possession but failed due to lack of car particulars
According to him, he sold the IPhone 12 while the other phone is still with him.
