Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebolor has flaged off the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a four hundred and eighty Meters flyover bridge at the round about of Oregbeni, Ramat park, area of Benin City, Edo State.
The flyover, when completed would be the first ever Link bridge in the State to be established by the state government since its creation 1991.
Addressing the gathering, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebolor said the flyover bridge which connects Benin Metropolis to Benin Asaba Express Way and the Benin – Auchi express way was long overdue as it would ameliorate the sufferings motorists and Commuters go through while plying the road.
Governor Okpebolor said his administration would construct another flyover bridge at the Dawson junction and the Adesuwa Junction of the Sapele road axis of Benin Metropolis.
The Governor who noted that the bridge when completed would enhance development in the State appealed to motorists and other road users to bear with them and be patient until the project was completed.
Also Speaking, contractor of the Project, Mr Eric Chem who expressed gratitude to the Governor for choosing them to be involved in the critical project, said the flyover bridge would be sixteen point six Meters width with four lanes, with solar power and street lights installed around the surrounding areas.
He pointed out that the project would also aid in the transfer of skills and capacity building as hundred percent of staffers for the project will be sourced locally.
Reacting to the development, some residents of the area, including the Odionwenee of the Community, Elder Moses Esemokhai and one of the Youth , Mr Emmanuel Aigbogun thanked Governor Okpebolor for remembering the Community as the project would go a long way in alleviating the traffic jam motorists and Commuters face on a daily basis while plying the road.
The flyover bridge project is to be completed in a year and six months time.
