The Federal Government wants countries around Mount Mandara and Sena to harness the full potential of the region’s transboundary ecosystems to the advantage of their citizens.
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev made the call at a Regional Workshop in Abuja.
Represented by the Director Water Resource Planning and Technical Support Services in the Ministry, Mr Adeyinka Adenopo, the Minister emphasized the need for the participating countries to focus on water management, resource control and climate change.
On his part the President of the Mount Manadara Platform in Cameroun, Yamal Gilbert, who spoke through an interpreter described the region’s ecosystem as a pride to the participating countries.

Earlier, the regional Coordinator of the Niger Basin Authority, NBA-ITTAS, Tchokponhoue Allomassou said the training became imperative to provide the needed skills for efficient management of integrated water resources.
The transboundary ecosystems of the Mount Mandara Plateau and the Sena Oura /Bouba Ndjida National Parks, spanning areas in Cameroon and Chad, are ecologically rich and host a variety of wildlife species.
