Governor Alex Otti of Abia state has inaugurated the newly elected 17 Local Government Area Council Chairmen and Deputies without the ruling party cliching any of the local governments in the state.
The 15 Chairmen and their Deputies emerged from the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, while two came from the Young Progressives Party YPP in the 2nd November council polls
Speaking during the inauguration at the Banquet Hall, Government House Umuahia, Governor Otti told the newly elected chairmen that their responsibilities were call to duty, collaboration, and grassroots development.

Governor Otti who noted that although they have emerged from different political platforms said they should put Abia first and follow suit with his administrations socio-economic transformation across their various councils.
He advised them prioritize access to water, basic health, education, road maintenance, and swift responses to security challenges in their local government areas.
While reminding the Chairmen the opportunities in agriculture and manufacturing Governor Otti stressed the need for strategic development across the various LGAs to create employment and wealth for the people.
The Governor who commended the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) for free and fair election, lauded political parties and their candidates for the spirit of sportsmanship.
Responding on behalf of other Chairmen, the Chairman Isuikwato LGA, Mr Chinedu Ekeke, described their emergence as honour and privilege to serve and pledged to replicate the Governor’s developmental template at their various LGAs.
