The Inspector General of police, Kayode Egbetokun has been urged to transfer the case of the alleged death of Olatunji Jimoh in police custody to force headquarters for proper investigation in the interest of fairness and Justice.
Speaking during a protest over the delay in investigation into the case at the NUJ secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara state, the convener for Justice for late Olatunji, Mr Owolabi Olumuyiwa appealed to the IGP to look deeply into the matter.
According to him the request for the transfer of the matter follows lack of confidence in the command’s ability to conduct a fair and impartial investigation.
He said the command is delaying the investigation, adding that as such, cannot be trusted to investigate themselves.

Mr Olumuyiwa also call on the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to intervene in the matter and ensure that the family gets the justice.
He explained that ever since the result of the autopsy was released the police in Kwara have been evading the family of the deceased.
In his remarks, lawyer to the family of late Olatunji Jimoh, Olukayode Oloyede commended the efforts of the Inspector general of police for portraying himself as the father of all in the matter.
He alleged that preliminary investigation revealed that late Olatunji did not die as a result of hanging himself.
The IGP had earlier visited the family of the deceased and assured them of a thorough and swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Some of the placards during the protest carries different inscriptions such as “It is a crime to remain silent in an unjust situation” Governor AbdulRazaq Olatunji need Justice” “Nigerian Police stop killing our youth in Kwara state”and “we the community leaders are crying for help ,”among others.
