Kwara state government, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, has commenced a capacity-building programme to enhance the skills of primary healthcare workers in maternal, infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN).
Speaking during the training session in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, emphasized the importance of the programme in improving healthcare delivery across the state.
The commissioner said the training programme aligns with Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq’s vision to provide equitable and high-quality healthcare to all residents, regardless of their location or socio-economic status.
Dr.El-Imam stressed that continuous capacity building is vital for effective healthcare delivery.
She urged participants to take the training seriously and implement the knowledge in their respective facilities.
The commissioner also encouraged them to share ideas with colleagues who could not attend, inorder to ensure the sustainability of best practices in nutrition.
She advised the participants to recognize the importance of the training and ensure its immediate implementation in their facilities.
Dr.El-Imam appealed to them to sustain the knowledge by training other staff members, particularly new inductees, to make this knowledge an integral part of the state primary health system.
