Delta State Government has proposed to spend two hundred and thirty billion naira on Road Infrastructure next year.
The State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, stated this in Asaba while presenting the State 2025 Appropriation Bill of over nine hundred and thirty six billion naira, to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Governor Oborevwori said the budget christened, ‘Budget of Fiscal Consolidation,’ was made up of recurrent expenditure of over three hundred and forty eight billion naira representing thirty seven point two five per cent and capital expenditure of over five hundred and eighty seven billion naira representing sixty two point seven five per cent of the total budget.
The Delta State Governor said the 2025 budget is two hundred and eleven billion naira more than the 2024 approved sum of seven hundred and twenty five billion naira indicating an increase of twenty nine per cent.
Governor Oborevwori who attributed the increase to the realignment of the exchange rate which resulted in higher FAAC allocations and associated revenue, said sixty seven point four two billion naira would be spent on Education; thirty point five five billion naira on Health; eleven point zero three billion naira on Water Resources Development; and seven billion naira on Agriculture.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly,Mr Emomotimi Guwor, who called on the Governor to institutionalise pre-budget planning parley between the Executive and the Legislature to help balance priorities within available resources, gave an assurance that the House would do the needful in the passage of the appropriation bill.
