Persons With Disabilities, PWDs, have advocated tax exemption and tax waiver on sales of assistive devices.
They made the request during a town hall meeting in Abuja.
The Town Hall meeting was organised to sensitise Persons With Disabilities, PWDs, on the need to scrutinize the tax reform bill as it relate to them.
Some PWDs who spoke at the town hall meeting said the four tax reform bills were not disability friendly hence the need for their review.
On her part, a Stakeholder at the meeting, Mrs Eno Sandra Uyebi stated that Section 188 grants zero percentage VAT on items like medicine and education, but left the exemption of educational materials PWDs hanging.
In a remark, a Women Leader in the FCT, Ambassdor Mube Beatrice noted that PWDs need a lot of resources to take care of themselves educationally and health wise.
They unanimously called for tax exemption for PWDs towards building a just and sustainable society.
