The Kano State Government has announced the elimination of open defecation in 26 local government areas.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf revealed this at the World Toilet Day 2024 celebration, organized by the state’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and UNICEF.
He said the state government had Renovation of 15 public toilets at motor parks, markets, and public places with a view to curtail the menace of open Defecation.
Represented by the Commissioner for Health Dr Labaran said government had embarked on massive Sensitization campaigns on the effects of open defecation.

Governor Yusuf commended development partners, traditional rulers, and stakeholders for their support.
Earlier, the UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office, Rahama Rihood Mohammed Farah, congratulated Kano State on achieving open defecation-free status in 26 LGAs, urging sustained efforts to cover the remaining 18 LGAs.
The ceremony was graces by development partners and other stakeholders.
