Anthony Joshua has announced he will fight Tyson Fury in their heavyweight boxing bout on December 11.
The 36-year-old British-Nigerian boxer also confirmed the highly anticipated all-British fight will take place in the United Kingdom, at the Principality stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
Joshua, a two-time world heavyweight champion, had been expected to take on Fury in 2016 following the Gypsy King’s shock win over Wladimir Klitschko in late 2015, but the fight suffered several delays including mental health and doping issues, before both boxers agreed to face each other after Joshua’s dramatic second round win over Kristian Prenga in July.
Joshua took to his Instagram account to confirm the date and venue, and added that he is inspiring a generation by fighting against fury.
“I am inspiring a generation,” Joshua teased with the caption of a poster that read “finally.”
As a build-up to the upcoming fight, both boxers will come face-to-face for the first time at a London press conference set for September 30.
Joshua has a fight record of 30 wins (27 KOs) and 4 losses in 34 professional fights; while Fury has won 36 times (24 KOs) with 2 losses and 1 draw in 39 fights.
Both suffered high profile losses in recent years, with Fury beaten in consecutive fights by Oleksandr Usyk via unanimous decision in 2024, while Joshua suffered a shock fifth-round defeat to Daniel Dubois, also in 2024.
