The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has directed all its state chapters to stop collecting registration fees from support groups, declaring that such registration is free.
This is contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Osa Director, in Abuja.
The statement says registration of support groups does not attract any fee, stressing that the process is exclusively under the authority of its Directorate of Support Groups at the national headquarters in Abuja.
It therefore directs all support groups seeking registration to channel their inquiries and applications to the Directorate of Support Groups, rather than through state chapters or individual party officials.
According to the statement, no state chapter, officer or official of the party is authorised to register support groups or collect money for such registration under any guise.
It directed all state chapters to comply strictly with the directive, warning that any violation will attract appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The statement also says it valued the support and partnership of various support groups, including the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements, and will continue to provide an enabling environment for them to operate in support of the party at all levels.
