The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed all its candidates to begin campaigns for the 2027 general elections.
The directive follows the commencement of the campaign period in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
This is contained in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, in Abuja.
The statement asks its presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Assembly candidates to begin consultations and engagements with voters.
It also directs its state, local government and ward chapters to organise local campaign activities and draw up schedules for the exercise.
The sratement says it will soon announce and inaugurate its campaign committees for the 2027 elections.
It urges candidates to use the campaigns to present their programmes and explain the party’s message to the electorate.
The statement also calls for issue-based campaigns, warning members against violence and abusive language.
It clarifies the status of its logo ahead of the campaigns saying it has modified its logo in consultation with INEC and formally notified the electoral body.
It explains that some administrative processes were still being resolved before the new logo could be adopted.
The party therefore directs its candidates and members to continue using the existing logo, featuring the two-finger victory sign, until the process with INEC is completed.
