National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, has charged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and take advantage of the party’s electronic registration platform to strengthen its support base ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, Senator Dickson said every political party aspires to win elections, and urged members to make the right decisions and take responsibility for delivering victory in their respective constituencies.
He stressed that winning elections does not rely on financial inducement but on building genuine connections with the electorate at the polling unit, ward and community levels.
According to him, politics must be driven by the people and not by wealthy individuals seeking personal influence.
Senator Dickson urged party officials to engage citizens directly and ask them whether their living conditions have improved under the current political leadership, noting that widespread hunger and disenchantment present an opportunity for the NDC to deepen its appeal.
The former governor explained that adjustments to the electoral timetable under the new Electoral Act had increased pressure on political parties, but assured that there was still sufficient time to build momentum if members remained focused and committed.
While emphasising the urgency of the electronic membership registration, Senator Dickson revealed that many Nigerians were already signing up, but challenged those yet to register to do so immediately.
He directed state chairmen to step up mobilisation efforts and ensure that each ward registers a minimum of 300 to 500 verifiable members.
Senator Dickson cautioned against inflated membership figures, stating that the party was more interested in capturing real voters who believed in the NDC’s vision than in padding records.
He said the leadership would closely monitor activities and take necessary actions to ensure transparency and effectiveness within the party structure.
He noted that the electronic membership registration would continue until election day, while details of the party’s primaries would be communicated in due course.
The NDC National Leader reaffirmed the party’s commitment to building a credible alternative capable of addressing national challenges and restoring confidence among Nigerians.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Senator Moses Zuwogeh reaffirmed his loyalty to the founding principles and ideals of the party, assuring members of transparent, accountable and dedicated leadership as the party consolidates its national structures.
Senator Zuwogeh described his emergence as Chairman as an act of divine favour and the collective will of party members.
He noted that many had considered such a development impossible, but expressed gratitude to God and the NDC family for entrusting him with the responsibility.
Senator Zuwogeh said every major achievement in life is driven by purpose, stressing that God often uses individuals as instruments to accomplish assignments that serve a greater good.
He pledged to remain faithful to the vision upon which the party was founded and to work tirelessly for its growth.
He charged party leaders, officials and newly inaugurated executives to demonstrate passion, discipline and commitment in carrying out their duties.
According to him, the NDC requires a loyal and united team capable of driving its mission of national renewal.
The Chairman urged members to be accommodating and tolerant of new entrants, noting that the party is attracting increasing interest from Nigerians seeking credible political alternatives.
He described this development as a positive sign of the party’s rising profile.
Senator Zuwogeh emphasised that the progress recorded so far is not by chance but by divine orchestration.
He encouraged members to accept their roles with humility and a sense of responsibility, adding that the future of the party rests on collective effort.
While thanking the National Leader and other key stakeholders for their support, Senator Zuwogeh called for renewed focus and dedication as the party prepares for the tasks ahead.
He assured members that under his watch, the NDC will uphold internal democracy, strengthen its organisational capacity and continue to build a broad-based platform capable of delivering credible governance.
