The Urhobo Youth Leaders Association (UYLA), Abuja/Diaspora Chapter, has endorsed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office, citing what it described as the administration’s achievements in infrastructure development, human capital development and social welfare across Delta State.

The association announced the endorsement in a communiqué jointly signed by its President, Comrade Kennedy Ejename; General Secretary, Comrade Jonathan Ibrebru-Idonor; and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Moses Itemire, following its expanded Executive and General Assembly meeting held in Abuja on August 18, 2026.

At the meeting, the association passed a vote of confidence in the governor’s administration.

According to the communiqué, UYLA said its decision was based on what it described as “verifiable, evidence-based performance” under the administration’s MORE Agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.

The association said the administration had recorded what it considered significant progress in road construction and urban renewal, particularly along the Warri-Effurun axis, where major flyovers and road expansion projects are being executed.

UYLA cited the Warri-Effurun flyover and road projects being handled by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the ongoing N39.3 billion Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli, and the proposed Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor.

The association also commended what it described as the government’s investment in roads and drainage infrastructure across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state. According to UYLA, the projects had improved connectivity and created opportunities for increased economic activity.

On social welfare, the group highlighted the widow support scheme, which it said provides monthly stipends and health insurance coverage to beneficiaries. The association described the initiative as evidence of what it termed “governance with compassion.”

UYLA further cited the payment of pension obligations, implementation of the new minimum wage, payment of promotion arrears, and recruitment of teaching and non-teaching personnel as areas in which it said the administration had impacted workers and pensioners.

The association also praised the government’s youth and women empowerment initiatives, including the MORE Grant, D-CARES and MORE-Biz programmes, which it said had provided financial support and business opportunities to thousands of vulnerable residents and entrepreneurs.

In the health and education sectors, UYLA cited the provision of medical equipment, support for indigent patients, health insurance enrolment and the disbursement of bursaries to more than 30,000 Delta State students.

The group also commended the administration’s reforms in the electricity sector, including the establishment of the Delta State Electricity Regulatory Commission and plans to expand renewable energy infrastructure across key government facilities and institutions.

UYLA further cited the reported increase in Delta State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N84 billion to N200 billion in 2025,(The Guardian July 14th 2026) saying it viewed the increase as evidence of efforts to strengthen the state’s economy and improve its investment environment.

The association also expressed its readiness to collaborate with relevant government programmes under the MORE Agenda in carrying out sensitisation and awareness programmes focused on mental creativity and entrepreneurship among youths across Delta State.

UYLA described Governor Oborevwori as a “Pan-Delta governor,” saying, in its assessment, that his projects and policies had extended beyond the Urhobo axis to other parts of Delta State.

The association consequently resolved to mobilise Urhobo youths in Abuja, Northern Nigeria and the Diaspora in support of the governor’s re-election bid.

It also called on Deltans across ethnic, religious and political lines to support what it described as the continuity of the MORE Agenda.

The association urged Governor Oborevwori to remain focused on infrastructure development, human welfare, youth empowerment and inclusive development across the state.
