The Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, has pledged strict enforcement of electronic payment systems to eliminate revenue leakages at airports nationwide, reinforcing transparency and accountability in line with the Federal Government’s fiscal reform agenda.
Speaking after appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Kuku said FAAN has implemented mechanisms to ensure all airport revenues, including collections at toll gates and other points, are fully captured, transparently processed, and properly remitted.
She urged passengers to obtain the required electronic payment tools before arriving at airports to support the initiative.
Kuku said that in 2024, FAAN generated N387.8 billion and collected N344.6 billion, reflecting 104.4 per cent revenue performance and 88.87 per cent collection efficiency, with N128.8 billion remitted to the Consolidated Revenue Fund (CRF).
For 2025, the authority generated N483.1 billion and collected N428.8 billion against an approved budget of N551.2 billion, remitting N150.6 billion to the CRF.
Chairman of the committee, James Faleke, directed FAAN to submit all supporting documents on revenue generation and remittances for further scrutiny, reinforcing legislative oversight of airport finances.
The MD emphasised that the reforms aim to strengthen internally generated revenue, improve service delivery, and fund operational and capital projects, highlighting FAAN’s commitment to a transparent, accountable, and efficient airport management system.
