The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has dismissed allegations that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is secretly working with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to undermine the party and its presidential ticket.
A statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, in Abuja, describe the allegations as unfounded, insisting that Senator Dickson remains committed to the NDC and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and running mate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
It says Dickson’s record in public service and his over seven years in the Senate demonstrated his commitment to principled politics and the interests of Nigerians.
According to the statement, Dickson had the opportunity to join the APC but instead chose to work with like-minded Nigerians to build the NDC as an alternative political platform capable of producing a new government.
The statement says the allegations were being promoted by political opponents who, it alleged, were concerned about the growing acceptance and spread of the NDC across the country.
It urges its members, supporters and well-wishers to remain focused and continue working for the success of Obi, Kwankwaso and other candidates contesting elections on the NDC platform.
