President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a forthright, loyal and committed ally.
Tinubu, in a birthday tribute issued on Monday, said Alake had built a reputation for hard work, excellence and an unrelenting commitment to delivering results.
The President praised Alake’s contributions to journalism, recalling his role as a frontline journalist and editor who used his pen to challenge dictatorship and defend democracy during Nigeria’s military era.
According to him, Alake also distinguished himself as Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy for eight years, where he transformed government information management and public communication.
Tinubu said Alake’s ability to operate effectively in unfamiliar territories had also been demonstrated in his current role as Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
He noted that Alake’s work in the mining sector had attracted local and international recognition, while his leadership as Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group had earned him the confidence of colleagues across the continent.
The President described Alake as a man committed to equity and social justice, saying these values had remained central to his professional and public service career.
Tinubu congratulated Alake on attaining 70, praying for more years in good health and continued service to God, Nigeria and humanity.
He described the minister as his “confidante, brother and buddy,” wishing him many more happy returns.
