The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has promised major reforms in security, agriculture, education, health and electricity if elected president in 2027.
Obi made the promise in Abuja at a dinner organised for the party’s candidates, where certificates of return were presented to them and the NDC National Campaign Council was inaugurated.
He said Nigerians needed leadership that would be available, responsive and committed to addressing the country’s challenges.
Obi identified corruption as a major obstacle to Nigeria’s development, promising to tackle it at all levels of government.
He also pledged to prioritise security and agriculture, saying improved security would enable farmers to return to their farms and increase food production.
On education, the NDC candidate promised to improve basic education and reduce the number of out-of-school children. He also pledged to improve healthcare delivery.
Obi said his administration would prioritise electricity generation, transmission and distribution, stressing that reliable power was necessary for economic growth and industrial development.
He said the party would set clear targets for its programmes to enable Nigerians to measure its performance and assess the results delivered.
The former Anambra State governor cited his record in office and that of his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as evidence of their experience in governance.
Obi also spoke on the economy, saying increased government revenue and oil production should translate into better living conditions for Nigerians.
He expressed the NDC’s commitment to addressing poverty, hunger, unemployment and other challenges affecting citizens.

The presidential candidate urged party members to take the NDC’s message to Nigerians across the country, explaining its plans and proposals for national development.
He said the party would focus on delivering practical solutions and measurable improvements in key sectors rather than making promises without clear results.
Obi called on Nigerians to assess the programmes and records of political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to building a country where citizens could enjoy improved security, better public services and greater economic opportunities.
