The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has inaugurated its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen its operations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The facility, located in the Jabi area of the Federal Capital Territory, was unveiled shortly after an emergency meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC.
The new secretariat is expected to serve as the party’s administrative centre and headquarters for its presidential campaign as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
The development marks a step in the NDC’s efforts to establish a permanent national base for coordinating its activities and managing its expanding political structure.
The inauguration attracted the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas; National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson; and Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central in the National Assembly.
Also present was the party’s Rivers State governorship candidate, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, alongside other party leaders and members.
The acquisition provides the party with a central location for coordinating its national activities, engaging members and organising its campaign operations across the country.
The secretariat is also expected to support the coordination of the party’s presidential campaign as it works towards the 2027 general elections.
The unveiling followed the emergency NEC meeting, which brought party leaders together to discuss issues relating to the party’s organisation and preparations for the forthcoming elections.
The NDC has positioned itself as an alternative political platform for Nigerians seeking a change from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
With the new facility, the party is expected to strengthen coordination between its national leadership, state chapters and other structures as election preparations continue.
Congratulating members and supporters on the development, Dickson described the new secretariat as a unifying centre for the party.
He referred to the facility as the party’s newly acquired “Noah’s Ark,” saying it would provide a befitting home for members and supporters.
The inauguration signals the party’s efforts to consolidate its organisational presence in Abuja and establish a central base for pursuing its political objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.
