The Labour Party has unveiled its timetable, schedule of activities, and fees for the conduct of its 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party says the schedule aligns with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the statement, the sale of nomination forms will commence on May 6 and end on May 16, 2026, while submission of completed forms is scheduled for May 17 and 18.
It states that Screening of aspirants will hold on May 20 for House of Assembly and governorship positions, and May 22 for National Assembly and presidential aspirants stressing that Screening results will be published on May 23.
According to the statement, the party fixed May 24 and 25 for appeals and petitions, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 26.
It adds that Primary elections are slated for May 27 for House of Assembly and governorship, and May 29 for National Assembly and presidential positions.
The statement also released its fee structure, with presidential aspirants expected to pay ₦50 million, governorship aspirants ₦25 million, Senate ₦10 million, House of Representatives ₦5 million, and House of Assembly ₦3 million.
However, the party announced concessions for women, youths aged 25 to 30, and persons living with disabilities, who will only be required to purchase expression of interest forms.
It further states that the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, will receive the governorship nomination form free of charge.
The statement urges prospective aspirants yet to register as members to take advantage of its ongoing e-registration, which closes at midnight on May 4, 2026, ahead of submission of its membership register to INEC.
