The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has expressed deep sadness over the death of former Minister and elder statesman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, CON.
Adebayo, in a condolence message in Abuja, described the late Bamanga Tukur as a distinguished Nigerian statesman, administrator, businessman and elder whose contributions to national development would remain part of the country’s history.
The SDP presidential candidate said Bamanga Tukur dedicated many years to the service of Nigeria and Africa, contributing to public administration, business development, leadership and national politics.
Adebayo said the late elder statesman demonstrated throughout his career a strong commitment to the progress and development of Nigeria.
He recalled his personal association with Bamanga Tukur, particularly his investments in Adamawa State, promotion of indigenous shipping and involvement in the implementation of the mandate of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, NEPAD, under Tukur’s leadership.
According to him, those experiences gave him the opportunity to work closely with Bamanga Tukur and witness his commitment to national and continental development.
Adebayo said the death of the elder statesman was a significant loss to Nigeria, Adamawa State and the African continent.
He extended his condolences to the late Bamanga Tukur’s family, the government and people of Adamawa State, as well as his friends, associates and other Nigerians mourning his death.
The SDP presidential candidate described Bamanga Tukur as an experienced leader and statesman whose accomplishments in public service, business and politics would continue to be remembered.
He said the late elder statesman’s legacy should inspire present and future generations to commit themselves to public service, humanity and national development.
Adebayo urged the family and loved ones of the deceased to draw strength from his contributions to the nation and Africa during his lifetime.
He prayed Almighty God to grant the family the strength and comfort to bear the loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.
