The Supreme Court on Thursday nullified the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
The apex court, in a decisive ruling, set aside the outcome of the convention conducted on November 15 and 16, which produced a factional National Executive Committee led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN).
With the judgment, the court effectively invalidated all decisions and structures that emerged from the disputed convention, dealing a major setback to the Turaki-led faction.
The ruling is expected to have far-reaching implications for the internal leadership crisis within the opposition party, as it reopens questions surrounding the legitimacy of parallel party structures.
Details of the judgment were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.
