The Obidient Movement has accused the judiciary of targeting the opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
At a news conference in Abuja, the movement’s National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, alleged that the court judgment ordering the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) was politically motivated.
He claimed the case was filed shortly after Mr. Peter Obi joined the NDC and was aimed at stopping him from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Tanko alleged that the judiciary was no longer acting independently and warned that such actions could weaken public confidence in the justice system.
He also claimed that those in power were using the courts to suppress the opposition instead of allowing a free political contest.
The Obidient Movement further accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of frustrating its political activities.

Despite the allegations, Tanko urged supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the democratic process.
He called for judicial independence to be protected, insisting that justice should prevail and the will of Nigerians must decide the outcome of the 2027 election.
