The Chairman of the Labour party Caretaker Committee, Senator Nenadi Usman has called on all party members to set aside their grievances and join forces with the Committee to build a party that will stand and deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
Senator Usman stated this today at the Party’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

Senator Usman who commended the supreme court judgments explained that the time to make things right and build a vibrant opposition is now.
On his part, the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi who applauded the supreme Court judgments stressed that the coast is now cleared to start the process of rebuilding with the cooperation of members.

‘We will go there now and say here are the documents from court. This is our resolution. So can we now start the process of rebuilding with your cooperation” Obi stated.
He emphasized that after immediately the meeting leaders of the party will move to INEC headquarters to present the Supreme court CTC.
“As leaders and elected members of this great party, we are going to leave from here to INEC to submit this document (CTC) so that we can start the process” the Former Presidential candidate added.
Earlier, the Governor of Abia state, Alex Otti appealed to political parties and their members to endeavour to always allow their constitutions, regulations and rules to guide them in choosing their officers and candidates.
“I want to say that we welcome the Supreme Court judgment of last Friday which Certified True Copy just arrived few minutes again. The 48-page document was very clear in saying that it is all of you seated here that constitute the leadership of the party” Gov Otti stated.
“I also want to make a point that we are law-abiding people. We sat on the 4th of September 2024 in Umuahia where we unanimously elected a 29-man caretaker committee. Shortly after that exercise, our brothers on the other side went to court and got a judgment that pronounced them the leaders of the party” he stressed.
“If we are not law-abiding, we would have stated dragging the office. But we all said since there was a court judgment, let us follow the process which ended last Friday”
“We expected that everybody who actually want the survival of democracy and progress of this country and Labour Party would have accepted that judgment. In any case, we have no choice because the Supreme Court is the final arbiter in matters like this. So youbmay not like the judgment but tou must obey it.
“Before I am done, may I appeal to political parties and their members to endeavour to always allow their constitutions, regulations and rules to guide them in choosing their officers and candidates. That way, the incessant internal wrangling which always find their way to court will be reduced” Gov Otti noted.
Gov Otti emphasized that the leadership of every party should be humble enough to leave at the expiration of their tenure.
In attendance were the 2023 LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, Senators and members of the House of Representatives who are members of the party were also present.
Also present were the governorship candidates of the party in Edo and Imo States, Olumide Akpata, and Athan Achonu.
