The Abia State Government has reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the Aba Commercial Smart City.
Governor Alex Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Caleb Ajagba, said the initiative aligns with the administration’s policy to foster a business-friendly climate and drive sustainable economic growth.
He noted that the project is expected to attract investments and generate substantial employment opportunities in the state.

Governor Otti emphasized that the government is focused on strengthening infrastructure and improving the investment climate, rather than merely pursuing investors, highlighting that returns on investment remain a key consideration for business engagement.
Retired Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, a senior board member of the project, assured that the initiative is fully supported by the state government and will be sustained to completion.
The proposed smart city, to be developed on 140 hectares in Osisioma Local Government Area, will feature markets, commercial centres, housing, schools, and recreational facilities, reflecting the state’s policy drive to modernize urban spaces and boost economic development.
