The Julus Abure led faction of the Labour Party, has rejected the judgment of the Court of Appeal which dismissed his case challenging the leadership of the party, describing the ruling as unacceptable.
In a statement signed by Abure says the judgment does not reflect the principles of law and insisted that leadership matters within a political party remain an internal affair.
The statement argues that the court failed to properly consider the validity of the party’s convention held in Nnewi on 27th March 2024, which he said remains valid for a four-year tenure.
According to statement, the decision of the court regarding the expiration of the executive’s tenure was incorrect and not acceptable to his faction of the party.
It also faults the party’s caretaker arrangement, describing the Umuahia meeting that produced the committee as unconstitutional.
The statement maintains that only the National Chairman and National Secretary have the authority to convene National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings.
It further states that the Court of Appeal ruling is being rejected in its entirety by his group.
According to the statement, Abure announces that his legal team has been instructed to challenge the decision at the Supreme Court, expressing confidence that justice will ultimately be served.
The statement reaffirms his position as National Chairman of the Labour Party, insisting that the matter will be pursued to its final legal conclusion.
