Nigeria is seeking increased United States investment in its solid minerals sector following a high-level meeting between the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, and senior U.S. officials at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Alake, who led the delegation of the Nigeria Solid Minerals Company (NSMC), met with Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain at the National Security Council, David Copley, and Diana London of DCI Group.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in mineral exploration, mining, processing, refining and value addition, as well as developing secure supply chains for critical minerals.
The discussions also aimed at attracting more investment into Nigeria’s mining industry and expanding economic cooperation between both countries.
The engagement supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic diversification, job creation, industrial growth and increased foreign investment in key sectors of the economy.
