The Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (MCO), Mr. Simon Nkom, has charged newly recruited staff of the agency to strictly adhere to public service rules, uphold discipline and build personal integrity as part of efforts to strengthen transparency and efficiency in Nigeria’s mining administration system.
Speaking at the induction of 111 newly employed staff in Abuja, Nkom said the orientation programme was designed to equip the officers with a clear understanding of public service regulations, governance procedures and institutional ethics required for effective service delivery.
He stressed that the civil service remains the backbone of governance and that compliance with established rules is essential for accountability, institutional stability and the proper administration of government responsibilities.
According to him, the administration of the oath of secrecy and induction process are critical in preparing new employees for the demands of public service, particularly in an agency as strategic as the Mining Cadastre Office, which oversees the administration of mineral titles in Nigeria.
Nkom urged the inductees to see their appointments as an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to national development, warning that their conduct, commitment and professionalism would define their careers in service.
He challenged them to begin building strong reputations from their first day in office, noting that credibility, diligence and loyalty remain the pillars of a successful public service career.
